The Godhead
God
There is only one solitary, living, and true God: who is infinite in being and perfection, in essence Spirit, Light and Love, invisible, without body, parts, or passions, immutable, immense, eternal, incomprehensible, almighty, most wise, most holy, absolutely sovereign, absolute, working all things according to the counsel of His own immutable and most righteous will, for His own glory; most loving, gracious, merciful, long-suffering, abundant in goodness and truth, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin; the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him; and withal, most just and terrible in His judgments, hating all sin, and who will by no means clear the guilty.
God has all life, glory, goodness, blessedness, in and of Himself; and is alone in and unto Himself all- sufficient, not standing in need of any creatures which He has made, nor deriving any glory from them, but only manifesting His own glory in, by, unto, and upon them: He is the alone fountain of all being, of whom, through whom, and to whom are all things; and has utmost sovereign dominion over them, to do by them, for them, or upon them whatsoever Himself pleases. In His sight all things are open and manifest; His knowledge is infinite, infallible, and independent upon the creature, so as nothing is to Him contingent, or uncertain. He is most holy in all His counsels, in all His works, and in all His commands. To Him is due from angels and men, and every other creature, whatsoever worship, service, or any obedience He is pleased to require of them.
Trinity
There are three persons in the Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one God, the same in essence, equal in dignity, power and glory. Whilst different in individual function, yet indivisibly one in essence, knowledge, council, purpose, power and action.
The Father
God the Father is father in a positional context rather than generational. God the Father is the architect of all, the designer, and initiator of all. For the creation and mankind he is especially interested in the nurture, protection, succor of his creatures. For those who, by faith accept him as spiritual Father, he through the Spirit brings to them all necessary spiritual learning, guidance, and discipline.
The Son
The Son of God, being very and eternal God, of one substance and equal with the Father and the Spirit, when the fullness of time was come, took voluntarily to Himself man’s nature, with all the essential properties and common infirmities thereof, yet without sin: being conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, in the womb of the virgin Mary, of her substance. So that two whole, perfect, and distinct natures, the Godhead and the manhood, were inseparably joined together in one person with a single nature, without conversion, composition, or confusion. Which person is very God, and very man, yet one Christ, the only Mediator and Advocate between God and mankind.
As the incarnate God, the Son is a Prophet, Priest and King. As the only Mediator between God and man, he alone secures reconciliation between God and Man. As the Great High Priest and Advocate he represents man before God. He alone is preeminent, sovereign of and eternally Lord of the Church.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a personage of the Godhead, whose function is the enlightenment of mankind to the existence, personages, glories, functions, and operations of the Godhead both corporally and individually.
So that the assemblies may function as the Godhead has ordained, he bestows spiritual gifts upon those he fits for specific offices and for specific functions, and thereby ensures that each assembly has all necessary elements present within collegially to function to it’s service to God and from God, and in witness and service to man and for man.
